It's a hello from me - meet Lucy one of our founders
I’m a creative. For us creative types environment is incredibly important. From what's on the walls to the overall vibe in our surroundings, whether it be a workspace, a restaurant or home. Striking the right balance is essential to promote exciting conversations & innovative work.
The perfect working environment for me has a relaxed vibe, perhaps with a few rules thrown in to keep standards high which in turn brings trust & respect. Equally, being able to let off a bit of steam by throwing stress balls at my colleagues or lying on the sofa blasting out tunes on the headphones allows the creative brain time to recharge & re energise.
After 5 years at art school I landed my first creative job, which was my dream job & I never imagined such a company would exist in rural Lavant, just north of my hometown Chichester.
My role as Production Assistant sent me around Europe scenic painting & creating themed spaces for the leisure industry. I found myself climbing over shark tanks in Sea Life centres & building replica full-size planes for museums alongside extremely talented artists & creators.
Two years later the job came to an end due to company relocation, but the day I got the news I found a surprising advert in the Chichester Observer for a prop house just down the road in Chilgrove!
As Production & Logistics Manager in charge of 15,000 square meters of props & production studios, 20 freelance stylists, artists & operations team, I was blasted into the super fast-paced event industry (anyone who has worked in events will understand what I mean!). We worked on high-profile VVIP projects, among others, at The Savoy, The Natural History Museum, Kensington Roof Gardens & renowned sporting events across the UK. This is where my calm persona & customer service experience really counted!
Three years later I was headhunted to work with an award-winning production company in Havant as Project Manager. There were big budgets, short deadlines & challenging never-done-before briefs. Projects came in thick & fast & stress levels were extreme (to say the least). The pace was in another league & boy did it consume my every thought, night & day.
During my 10 years there I was very proud to deliver some fantastic projects for worldwide brand leaders including the BBC, Diageo, Estee Lauder & Google to name a few. But after having two children it was time to jump out of the corporate rat race & into the freelance world as a stylist, as well as setting up our family carpentry business Urban Blackbird. I realigned my life, allowing my creative mojo to rejuvenate...the Rume2 light bulb was lit.
Rume2 will be an inspiring space for independent workers to evolve by engaging & being part of a community.
Rosie & I can’t wait to share the space with you. We genuinely want to help our members grow & we look forward to watching you make new friends & business partners in a vibrant & collaborative environment.
