BUILDING A MENTALLY HEALTHY WORKPLACE
Eloise Johnson - Well Minds Training
It is estimated that 70 million working days are lost each year due to mental ill health in the UK. This has a financial cost of 2.4 billion pounds each year. Stress, anxiety and depression are the biggest cause of sickness absence in our society (Health and Safety executive 2017)
The ultimate aim is to prevent people from becoming unwell, but for those that do, Organisations have a duty of care and legal obligations to protect the health and safety and welfare of employees (Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974)
The Equality Act 2010 protects people with disabilities from unfair treatment, this includes many people with mental health issues.
