WHY MINDFULNESS IS A MUST HAVE SKILL?

Mindfulness is something that many people have heard of by now as it is increasing in popularity.  However, there are still many common misconceptions & myths surrounding it which can put people off & cause them to miss out on this life-changing skill.

Many of us spend a lot of time with an outward focus, running around on auto-pilot, ignoring ourselves, jumping from one task to the next until we are a frazzled mess or just lacking creativity or new ways of doing things.  This can lead us to feel disconnected from ourselves & others, especially the people we care about.  Mindfulness is about pressing a pause button & choosing where we put our attention, taking back control and strengthening neural connections in the brain, giving us mental clarity & choice in our interactions with ourselves & the world.  Mindfulness is not just about relaxation, although this is a fortunate by-product, it is about increasing our awareness.  It empowers us to become more attuned to whatever we choose to focus our attention on.

Join Nikki to find out more about mindfulness & what it can do for you.  We’ll go through a mindfulness exercise or two and reflect on the benefits of developing a mindfulness practice & look at the research that supports it.

Nikki is a qualified Psychological Therapist with a specialist interest in all things mindfulness. After 15 years with the NHS she has recently started her journey as a private practitioner to be able to practice in a way that fits with her values & teach this valuable skill to enrich peoples lives.
